MARYSVILLE, WA. May 14, 2026 – The Marysville Family YMCA, in partnership with Kendall Subaru of Marysville, has expanded its 3rd Grade Splash Program, advancing a shared commitment to safety, confidence, and equitable access to swim lessons for local youth.
Now in its third year, the program continues to grow through a renewed $20,000 investment from Kendall Subaru of Marysville. Through continued investment and community partnership, the program has evolved into a proven pathway, equipping children with life-saving water safety skills and the confidence to thrive.
Currently, the program serves students from Allen Creek Elementary, Grove Elementary, and Quil Ceda Elementary. In 2025, the program served nearly 250 third graders. This year, the Y aims to reach up to 320 students by expanding across Marysville and Tulalip communities.
“I love seeing third graders overcome a fear or learn a skill that stays with them for life,” said Taryn Dinuis, Associate Director of the Marysville Family YMCA. “They start the week not knowing anything about the water. That first day, they’re nervous. By the end of the week, they’ve learned so much and accomplished so much. It’s powerful – it helps them succeed not just in the water, but in their education and beyond.”
The 3rd Grade Splash program provides free swim lessons and water safety education to third-grade students in the Marysville School District and Tulalip community. Guided by YMCA aquatics staff and volunteers, students build skills that reduce risk, strengthen confidence, and open the door to lifelong wellness.
“We’re grateful to partner with the Marysville Family YMCA on the 3rd Grade Splash Program and truly love seeing the impact it has had on the kids in our community,” said Alexa Weber, Community Relations Specialist for Kendall Auto Washington. “This program not only provides essential water safety skills and exercise, but we’ve also learned that it helps kids grow their confidence, helps them return to the classroom more focused, and they get to have fun with their classmates.”
This work reflects a deeper commitment: ensuring every child, regardless of background, has access to opportunities that can save their life and shape their future.
“Kendall Subaru of Marysville’s support is what turns possibility into impact,” said Tommy Speidel, Executive Director of the Marysville Family YMCA. “Because of their partnership, more children have access to life-saving skills and opportunities that help them grow, succeed, and belong.”
