BARRACUDAS SWIM TEAM

One Team. One Community. Endless Potential.

Since 2021, swimmers from six YMCA pools have come together as one team—the YMCA Barracudas. We’re more than a swim team. We’re a community where kids grow, compete, and belong.

At the Y, we don’t build one perfect athlete. We create an environment where every swimmer can thrive—learning teamwork, confidence, and what it means to chase a goal together.

The Barracuda Swim Team stands out because it’s not just about learning strokes—it’s about becoming part of something bigger. We’re building a program where kids belong, grow, and are challenged in the right ways, at the right time. From the first high five on deck to long-term goals that stretch toward YMCA National Championships, Barracudas swim with purpose—together.

Swimming should feel exciting. At Barracudas, practices are structured, energetic, and full of connection—kids racing each other, cheering teammates on, and celebrating effort. This is where the fun of the sport meets the power of a team. Kids don’t just swim laps; they build friendships, confidence, and pride in showing up for one another.

Barracudas are led by paid, professional coaches who do more than supervise—they coach. Our athletes experience real instruction, goal-setting, and encouragement from positive role models who know their names and believe in their potential. Parents see it too: focused practice time, meaningful coach interaction, and a bond that shows kids they’re capable of more than they imagined.

Swimming is one of the best sports for growing bodies and minds. It builds strength, endurance, discipline, and resilience—while keeping kids active and engaged. Barracudas embrace competition in a healthy way, teaching kids how to race, how to improve, and how to shine when effort meets opportunity. This is a sport on par with basketball, football, and soccer—just with goggles and grit.

For many kids, the Barracudas are the next step after swim lessons—and the first step into competitive sport. For others, it’s where they discover they love to race. Either way, families become part of a swim community that supports every stage of the journey. Fun today. Growth tomorrow. Big goals on the horizon. This is where young swimmers start strong—and keep going.
