FREE Community Transit Seminar and Bus Ride for Seniors

  • Tired of the traffic and cost of parking?
  • Want to use public transportation now that the Link Light Rail has opened in Lynnwood?

Perhaps you don’t know how or just don’t feel comfortable yet using public transportation. Let’s change that!

Jennifer McCoy, Marketing Specialist for Community Transit, will be here to present a seminar on the basics and “How To’s” of public transportation in our area. Following the presentation, participants will ride a community transit bus to the newly opened Lynnwood City Center connection. There we will go to the “Ride Store” where you can get the “Regional Reduced Fare Permit for Seniors (age 65 and above) at no cost. You will simply need to show identification with your birthdate to receive the card. The reduced fare permit cards are free through the end of the year. In addition to the Regional Reduced Fare Permit cards, all participants will receive a 30-day FREE pass for unlimited rides. After everyone gets their RFP cards, the bus will return us to the Mill Creek Y. On both the drive to Lynnwood and return trip to the YMCA, participants are welcome to ask questions of the bus driver to help in learning to navigate public transportation. Participation is limited to 25 and you need to register through your YMCA account OR at the Welcome Center.

Please give at least a 48-hour notification should you need to cancel your registration so that someone on the wait list may attend.

The Driftwood Players Present: Miracle on 34th Street – The Play

This theatrical production by the Driftwood Players follows Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, who gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s. Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. This does not go over so well with the management at Macy’s. Join us to find out what happens with Kris.
