Youth and Government
Be part of the solution! Youth and Government is a program that brings students (ages 13-18) together to discuss current events and issues important to them and their community, while building their public speaking, leadership, and debate skills. Civil discussion and civic engagement are more important today than ever before. At the Y, students from every background have a safe place to learn and engage.
Students are invited to participate in club meetings until December before registration and fees are due.
There is an additional Annual State Conference Fee of $410 – (covers hotel, food, & transportation)
Mock Trial
Teens in the YMCA Mock Trial program acquire the leadership, team building and public speaking skills that lead to the development of active and engaged citizenship. They develop a feel for the meaning of justice as they learn to sift truths from untruths and how to evaluate both sides of an issue before making a decision. Mock Trial provides an opportunity for students to participate in a competitive, high drama courtroom showdown between teams from around the state
