Explorer Camp
Explorer camp will engage your camper in summer skill-building fun as they learn and discover their passion! Each week, our campers will explore new opportunities by centering fun, intentional activities during an action-packed day. Campers will develop confidence around the weekly theme as they put specific skills into practice throughout the week. This is your summer to discover potential, hidden talents, and new passions!
Registration for all YMCA of Snohomish County Day Camps will open in March:
March 1st: Priority Registration is open for 2022 campers, Adventure Guides, current School-Age Care and Heatherwood ECE participants.
March 15th: Registration opens to all

What themes are offered at Explorer Camp?
STEAM – Put on your lab coat and explore different areas of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math
Create & Build – Conceptualize, design, build, test! Campers will explore their creativity and resourcefulness as they build their way through unique challenges as they explore the word of architecture and construction.
World Explorer – This week we will “travel” to different areas across the globe on our culinary expedition! Campers will create & try different recipes & foods from many cultures around the world as they develop their cooking skills along the way.
Art-tastic – This hands-on camp will engage campers as they put their creativity to work with a variety of art mediums.
Culinary Creations – A yummy week of food exploration. Get messy as we chop, stir, and eat our way through a week of cooking!
Multi-Sport – Campers will play their favorite sports & games! A mix of traditional and non-traditional sports and yard games will be explored throughout the week. At the end of the week, campers will have some friendly competition to show off their skills learned throughout the week.
Basketball – Campers will begin to explore the world of basketball. Campers will engage in basketball specific skill building activities, scrimmages, and competitions. Campers will dive into the history of basketball, markings on the court, and basic offensive and defensive principles. Campers will be given tools to continue their basketball progression at home once their camp experience is over.
Soccer – Dribble, shoot, pass and defend during this camp focused on soccer fundamentals. We blend qualified instruction with age-appropriate drills, fun activities and a focus on teamwork and sportsmanship.
Lights, Camera, Action – Campers will work together to build their own theater production! Campers will learn and practice acting techniques, dance, and stage presence. With the help of their counselors, campers will demonstrate what they’ve learned in an end of the week show!
Game On! – Put your gaming skills to the test this week! Campers will use their creativity, knowledge and skills of classic board games, card games, trivia games, and group games to develop their own unique game.
Dance – Campers will dance their way into the world of ballet. Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of ballet and progress their skills and repertoire culminating in an end of week routine.
Y News Now! – Extra! Extra! Coming to you from your local Y, a week of reporting, filming and sharing what’s fun around town! Campers will learn the ins and outs of beginning journalism and sharing stories through a mock news broadcast. Whether your camper is interested in writing, directing, anchoring or researching, we have a role for everyone!
Cartooning – Does your camper love to doodle? Come learn and practice the skills needed to create their own comic book! Using famous comics and specific art techniques, campers will explore color, shapes and story development needed to put together a fun comic to share with others.
How do I register for Day Camps?
Registration for all YMCA of Snohomish County Day Camps will open in March:
March 1st: Priority Registration is open for 2022 campers, Adventure Guides, current School-Age Care and Heatherwood ECE participants.

To begin your registration for Day Camp, follow these steps:
- Scroll down to view the locations where this Camp is offered. Select a location.
- Review the “Camp Information” section to ensure this camp fits your needs.
- Review the “Available Sessions” section. Select each week of Camp you wish to register for.
- Press “Registered Selected.”
- Follow the prompts to login to your Y account.
- Select the child you are registering for Camp and complete all required Program Questions.
- Complete all required waivers.
- Next, the system will prompt you to review your selections and complete payment.
- Confirm your selections and complete your payment. Or, to complete additional registrations, add your selection to your cart.
When is payment for Day Camp due?
A $15 deposit is due at the time of registration for each week of Summer Camp.
Your final payment is due the Monday two weeks prior to the start of your camper’s scheduled session. If payment is not received by the due date, your reservation and deposit for that session will be forfeited and a “wait listed” child will be notified of the available space. For your convenience, our system will prompt you to schedule future payments automatically at the time of registration.
For cancellations or transfers, we require written notice 15 days prior to the start of your camper’s session. Refunds will be given as a YMCA credit when applicable based on the schedule below. Deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred and applied to other YMCA programs.

Refund Requested 14 or Less Days Prior to Camp: Deposit is Forfeited / 0% of Fee Issued as account credit
Is financial assistance available at this camp?
Yes! Scholarship options are available to ensure everyone has an opportunity to experience the Y. To learn more, we invite you to submit an Access for All Worksheet online or at the Y.
Does this program accept state subsidy for child care?
No, this camp does not accept state subsidy for child care. We do accept state subsidy at our Fryelands Elementary Ready, Set, Go! camp and all Discovery camp locations.
Do I have to be a YMCA member to register?
No, you do not have to be a YMCA member to register for Summer Camp. However, Y members save an average of $40-60 per week on Camp. To explore Y membership options, visit this page.
When registering for Camp online, you may be prompted to select a membership type. To register for Camp without joining as a Y member, select the membership type, “Non-Member.” This membership type will add no cost to your purchase.
